I couldn't resist the temptation any longer and downloaded the first episode of Angel Season 5

Angel, my first fannish love, even before Buffy. Only a week before Buffy, but still.
Angel/Spike, my first OTP. Okay, so I love Angel/Wesley, Gunn/Wesley, and most of all Angel/Lindsey, but A/S is still my favourite.
I haven't watched Angel after episode 3.10 or so.
I haven't read any Angel fiction in more than a year.
And now this. Now they bring him back. Spike. On screen with Angel. Together. GAH! I tried to resist, really, I didn't want to go back to this fandom, but it's Angel/Spike! And now they are bringing back Lindsey too! Though I admit that it was because of Lindsey that I downloaded the ep. I could resist Angel/Spike, but I can't resist Angel/Spike/Lindsey. Oh, I can't wait until I reach the ep where they bring him back! But I want to watch the other season 5 eps first.
The first one was already disappointing.
I don't know what's going on. Okay, that's my fault, can't blame it on the show.

Angel: I couldn't stop staring at his hair. And then laughing loud at it. It was very disturbing.

Wesley:
(goes without words, just *gah*)

Harmony: "Cordelia is my idol!" (or what ever she said, it was something like this) Well, yes, Harmony, we realized that. Still, could you please try to NOT imitate Season 1 Cordelia, because you were way cooler when you were just Harmony, and Cordelia was way cooler than you are now! Just don't.

Gunn: Mm. What can I say. So he looks good in a suit. but I don't think I like that they changed his brain. Can't really say yet, have to wait till the next ep.

Fred: I could accept Fred in Season 2. I hated her in the few Season 3 eps I saw. Even though she was very pretty in "Waiting in the wings". I still hate her. She tries so hard to be cute, and maybe she would be cute, if she didn't try so hard, but this way she is just annoying. Also, I wanted to cut off her nose.
But she is lucky, there is someone even worse: Eve
Eve doesn't try to be cute, she tries to be evil. Well, congrats Eve, you are working for Wolfram& Hart, that qualifies as evil. Now stop trying so hard. It is ridiculous. People laugh about you. I did. In fact, I laughed even more about you than I laughed about Angel's hair. By the end of the ep I started sniggering whenever they showed you, you didn't even have to say something. Go die, Eve.
They used to have women like Lilah and Darla to play the evil parts, and now we get Eve? What has happened to this show???
At least they gave Lindsey tattoos. I hope they are real and not some part of some wild and crazy sex ritual.

Spike's introduction was alright. I've seen better special effects on worse shows, and it was a little too dramatic for my taste, but since I haven't seen the second ep yet, I can still imagine that he falls right into Angel's open arms who will then fuck him right there on the desk in front of Wesley and Harmony. That makes up for the lame introduction.

Now, can anyone explain to me what happened in Season 4? Do I have to watch it?
I tried to find the information myself on the only Angel site I have bookmarked. It seems to be a big site with a lot of traffic, but I had to delete the bookmark because of people's inability to spell Lindsey. It's LindSEXY(oops, typo *g*) LindSEY, not LindSAY.
I read that twice on the site, and it is reason enough for me not to visit it anymore.
